Our last post advised that the Australian Government had closed its borders to all non-citizens and non-residents on March 20 2020.

On the 22 March 2020 our Prime Minister – Scott Morrison – made an important update on measures his government is taking to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Corona Virus in Australia.

Australia has now moved to ‘Stage 1 restrictions on non-essential services’ which restricts many public spaces that people visit from operating as normal. The additional advice is that non-essential travel is to be avoided and we are advised that these measures are expected to be in place for at least six months – even our famous Bondi Beach (which we normally visit each day during Panoramic Sydney touring) closed recently due to the volume of people breaking restrictions on social gathering.

While at this stage we are awaiting to confirm whether we are defined as essential or non-essential service, we have taken the decision to avoid the spread of the virus to and from our guests and go in to maintenance mode, not operating our standard small group and private tours. Here’s information from the state and federal governments that regulate our operations:

So now that we are in maintenance mode it allows time to spruce up our vehicles and touring equipment and fine tune our back office operations. Focussing on hygiene and the health of our guests, our team and vehicles is paramount at AEA Luxury Tours & Mount ‘N Beach Safaris and we look forward to touring with happy, healthy travellers when it is safe to do so.

After just coming through one of the most severe summer seasons that saw drought leading to bushfires burning all around Australia and particularly in our most popular touring destination – Blue Mountains – which is bursting back to life:

We at AEA Luxury Tours now optimistically rise to a new challenge – the Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This virus is unparalleled for AEA luxury Tours because the vast majority of guests that we carry come from foreign shores. And, as of Sunday 16 March 2020 our federal government, with good reason, shut the doors to foreign visitors getting out and about in Australia.

Since Sunday we have already seen a cascade of cancellations and we are acting reasonably to cancel bookings without fees in the hope that once the travel bans are lifted people will re-book from foreign shores to see spectacular Sydney and its surrounds.

Since the bushfires of 2019/20 our state tourism body – Destination New South Wales  – has been promoting the idea of staying local and booking a getaway that gives back to drought and bushfire affected regional communities. Now, with the impact of the virus, it’s more important than ever to stay local and support local businesses.

AEA Luxury Tours are well equipped to assist you in giving that support. We have a shiny fleet of  super comfortable vehicles and a learned team of guides ready to roll if you or someone you know wants to get out and about.
